dc.description.abstract The purpose of the study was to examine the factors that affect procurement planning in County Governments in Kenya a case study of Nairobi City County with an aim of making recommendations on proper procurement planning. The study aimed to establish how management support, staff competence, Information Communication Technology (ICT) tools, and budgeting procedure affect procurement planning. A census was conducted where all the 103 staff in procurement department was issued with questionnaires. Data was collected using self-administered questionnaires to collect data. The data collected was analyzed using quantitative and qualitative techniques. The study concludes that, inadequate competencies of procurement staff, lack of management support, ICT tools and budgeting procedures affect procurement planning. Finally, the study recommends a further research to be carried out in other counties to find out if the same results can be obtained en_US
