Abstract:
Hydroxyapatite was coated on stainless steel 304 via rf magnetron sputtering. The coatings were sputtered with varying rf power (50 W, 75 W, and 100 W) and the deposition time (1.5 h, 2 h, and 2.5 hrs.). The topography and corrosion behaviors of the samples were investigated using the BRUKER Dimension Edge Atomic Force Microscope machine and electrochemical test. The results revealed that the hydroxyapatite thin film coatings enhanced the substrate's surface roughness and corrosion. The topography and corrosion resistance were considerably influenced by the sputtering parameters, with an increase in power resulting in a decrease in surface roughness.
