dc.description.abstract Geo-Business Intelligence(Geo-BI) is a collection of technologies that combines Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Business Intelligence (BI). The solution for the integration of Business Intelligence (BI) and GIS is called Location Analytics or Location Intelligence. Location Analytics reinforces the business systems of the organization giving new geographic perspective on data and allows spatial analysis. Location Analytics seamlessly integrates maps into the BI system using technology that is inherent in the core business system. The Geo-BI would assist the financial institutions in Nyeri region in the field of market analysis by giving more accurate location data of the customers thus knowing where exactly their customers are. This research used the following datasets: physical addresses of the customers for products loans, savings and deposits, population, sub-locations (administrative units), and point data of financial institutions which would wish to use this system. Python programming language was used in geocoding the physical addresses, developing the system and performing market data analysis. The following software were used: Python 3.7, Sublime Text, PostGIS, PostgreSQL and ArcMap 10.5. The research presented an opportunity of integrating geospatial technologies with the existing business intelligence systems in carrying out market analysis for financial institutions in Nyeri County. It was shown how the financial institutions were able to know where customers are, how product popularity plays differently depending on location, and where macroeconomic factors are taking effect. It’s not enough to know what happens, Executives must know where and when it happens. The Geo-Business Intelligence would help the company gain a competitive advantage in the market and mitigate operational risks by combining business analytics and geo-data together. en_US
