dc.description.abstract The department of survey in the ministry of lands in Kenya is responsible in dealing with all issues related to land and mapping. One of those issues is the transformation of coordinates from the old Cassini system to the new UTM system. The study was set out extend and densify controls to assist to convert coordinates from Cassini to UTM and from UTM Cassini in the regions that do not have block corners. This involved a process of creating a new block corner for Nanyuki having points in corresponding Cassini and UTM coordinates This will give a platform that will allow for extension of controls to cover the whole country, thus making it easier to transform coordinates from one system to another. Using the available map projection formulas it was possible to perform forward and inverse calculations. Since geographic coordinates are most available, they were used to perform forward equations to obtain Cassini and UTM coordinates. en_US
