dc.description.abstract Mwea Irrigation Scheme has been managed by the stakeholders using manual approaches since its establishment(Kabutha & Mutero, 2006).The outcome of this has been inefficiency and conflicts between farmers and the managers leading to reduction in rice production(Maillu, 2016). According to Mwangi(2011), globalization trends demand for efficient and effective land services require development of an integrated land information management system. This project was all about Mwea Irrigation Scheme management by use of web GIS application which is more efficient. It aimed connecting farmers with managers and the investors in passing across important notices to one another. Django web framework was used to develop the application while PostgreSQL database was used to store the data for necessary queries. The programming languages used included python, JavaScript, CSS and html. The application is capable of collecting incidences such as water shortage and siltation in canals in form of location-based photos from the farmers, analyzing the incidences on bar graph, registering rice paddy owners and leases and analyzing rice paddies by area. Managers can use it to send important notices to the farmers while the investors can use it as a decision-making tool for effective investment. Apart from that it can aid navigation from one point to another hence capable of guiding managers to move to the point where an incidence has occurred from the office. en_US
