dc.description.abstract The transport industry plays a major role in the economy of any country In Kenya, bypasses have been built to cut transport time between places, decongest towns among many other reasons. The Eastern Bypass in Nairobi is an example of such. The construction of these roads is bringing about different changes in the areas they traverse. This proposal aims at demonstrating how these changes can be monitored using remote sensing. The objectives of this study are all aimed at doing an environmental audit of the Eastern bypass. This will be done by: quantifying the land covers at different times, evaluate the change, compare with what was predicted in the environmental impact assessment report then predict for future trends in the land covers. This will be done by the use of digital aerial images. The expected results at the end of the study will be; land use land cover maps, change zone map, statistics and a prediction model. en_US
